BTE or Behind the Ear

Hearing aids like this lay flush behind your ear and connect to your inner ear via a tube connected to a mold placed in your ear. They stay in place with a hook fastener and the mold is custom fit to your ear so it stays snugly in place. This type of hearing aid is considered durable and it can help improve a variety of different types of hearing loss.

ITE or In the Ear

This type of hearing aid is most commonly used for people with moderate hearing loss. They are worn in the ear and they are removable. They may be difficult to fit in smaller ears.

ITC In the Canal and CIC Completely in the Canal

Both of these types of hearing aids are placed within the ear canal itself. ITCs are larger in size than CICs. CIC devices are in most cases so small they are virtually invisible.Some people may not be eligible for these types of hearing aids because of the size or shape of their ear canal.

Body Worn Hearing Aids

A body worn hearing aid is comprised of an external box and earpiece attached by a wire. Their benefit is that they do not typically clock the ear canal, plus they also have a larger battery for increased power. They are often recommended for those with extensive hearing loss.
